Applied Computer and Life Sciences

Digital technologies generate data, create new forms of interaction and, at the same time, raise questions about responsibility. As the Faculty Applied Computer Sciences and Biosciences at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, we are dedicated to addressing these issues. We combine computer science, digital media, IT security and forensics, and applied biosciences – with a clear focus on real-world applications and knowledge transfer.

What makes the faculty stand out?

Develop models. Understand data. Design applications.

What sets our faculty apart is the interplay between four research groups with different perspectives and a shared commitment: Mathematics provides models and analytical methods; Computer Science develops digital systems and applications; Biotechnology and Chemistry investigate and engineer molecular, biological and chemical processes, making them measurable and usable for science, industry and society; and Forensics combines scientific analysis with security-related issues. This creates an interdisciplinary profile that shapes study programmes, research and knowledge transfer in equal measure.

We work on topics where digital, scientific and socially relevant issues converge: from modelling, data analysis and Software Development, through digital media and IT security, to biotechnological, medical and forensic applications. This is not about disciplines existing side by side, but about their integration within specific fields of application.
