Application deadlines
Applications to study in Mittweida are accepted twice a year, depending on whether your studies begin in the winter semester or the summer semester. Different application periods and deadlines apply depending on the type of admission procedure and degree programme:
- For studies beginning in the winter semester, the application deadline for applicants with German university entrance qualifications (e.g. Abitur) is 15 July for all degree programmes. International applicants for a degree programme without admission restrictions must apply by 15 May.
The start of the application phase depends on the degree programme: For Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in mathematics, the application phase begins on 15 October of the previous year; for all other degree programmes, applications can be submitted from 15 April of the year in which the start of studies is planned. - For studies beginning in the summer semester, the application period for all applicants ends on 15 January. Applications can be submitted from 15 October onwards. Early application is particularly advisable for international applicants, as the visa process can take a long time.
If you have not yet gathered all the legally required documents by the application deadline, you must still submit your application before the deadline. You can submit missing documents later: For degree programmes with restricted admission (NC degree programmes), these deadlines (20 January for the summer semester and 20 July for the winter semester) are prescribed by law and cannot be extended by the university. International applicants for a degree programme without restrictions on admission can submit missing documents after the 15 May application deadline until 31 May.
For study programs with restricted admission (NC study programs), these deadlines (15 January and 15 July) are required by law and cannot be extended by the university. Missing documents can still be submitted by 20 July or 20 January.
The majority of our degree programmes are offered in the winter semester. Only the Bachelor's degree programmes in Social Work begin in the summer semester. Applications for higher semesters (e.g., if you are changing universities within Germany) are possible for all semesters within the application deadlines.
