Alongside nine other Saxon higher education institutions and the BA Sachsen, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences was part of the collaborative project “Implementing Digitalisation in Disciplines in a Participatory Manner :: Competencies Connected (D2C2)”, which set itself the task of further developing digitalisation in higher education teaching on a discipline-specific basis through dialogue with academic colleagues and students. Designing and implementing suitable teaching and learning scenarios, as well as evaluating and adapting them, are some of the project’s key milestones. To realise the digitalisation of teaching and learning across disciplines, the project consistently and comprehensively draws on the ‘Students as Partners’ and ‘Scholarship of Teaching and Learning’ approaches.

In doing so, D2C2 addressed four challenges faced by the universities in the consortium:

(1) developing students’ digital skills in undergraduate teaching,

(2) enabling didactically sound digitalised workshop and laboratory work,

(3) establishing the pedagogically sound use of an OER task bank for mathematics as a foundational subject, and

 (4) creating a shared didactic, technical and legal understanding of digital examinations.

This is being implemented across five ‘subject-specific professional learning communities’: Computer Science, Engineering, Psychology (Psychotherapy), Health and Social Care, and Art and Design. Overall coordination is the responsibility of the Saxony Centre for Higher Education Pedagogy (HDS). The vice-rectors of the HDS management team form the steering group. The HDS Scientific Advisory Board and the E-Learning Working Group of the Saxony State Rectors’ Conference form the project advisory board.
