Launch of the ILEAS project

The ILEAS project, funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education Teaching (StIHL), was launched at the HSMW at the beginning of October.

ILEAS has had a practical base right from the start of the project. All eight sub-projects are affiliated with a wide range of well-established HSMW organisational units, from the Vice-Rectorate for Education and the IKKS to the AI experts at the CB. ILEAS builds on existing projects and initiatives that are already advancing teaching and learning, didactics and digital methods. Approaches that work well are taken up, refined and supplemented in the ILEAS sub-projects. All faculties are set to benefit.

Making the project a reality will require a great deal: for example, data from pupils, high-quality measurement and (automated) evaluation of learning experiences – and practical experimentation in the form of early implementation of the test environments in teaching. One of the sub-projects, for instance, is establishing the Digital Core Lab as a real-world didactic laboratory equipped with biotechnological instruments.

In the first few months of the project, alongside familiarising staff with the project and establishing structures, major procurement tasks and, of course, the drafting of work plans are on the agenda. Following the kick-off meeting on 3 November, all sub-projects are now beginning their work.
