Visitors from Chile at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences

The aim was to renew existing contacts and, through face-to-face interaction, to work more closely together in future. In addition to information on degree programmes and research expertise, the Chilean visitors were particularly interested in learning how cooperation works between universities and, above all, with industry, as greater emphasis will be placed on knowledge and technology transfer in Chile in future. For this reason, the Chilean government is in the process of launching a transfer initiative.

Alongside discussions with Rector Volker Tolkmitt, the International Office – represented by Cornelius Hagenmeier – and numerous researchers and lecturers at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, as well as a tour of several laboratories, primarily in the fields of energy technology and chemistry, the tightly packed programme included two visits outside the university.

On Wednesday morning, the first stop was Prof. Martin Graebner’s petrol synthesis plant at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, ‘E-Fuels made in Freiberg’ – which are of particular interest to the guests, as an e-fuel plant in Chile – in which the German company Porsche also has a stake – has already gone into production and is now operational.
