Instructors’ Meeting 2026 – Exchange, information and fresh ideas

At this year’s practical supervisor meeting, around 40 Social Work professionals gathered here at Haus 39 in their capacity as practical supervisors to discuss the support provided to our students and the collaboration between the university and the professional field.

Following a welcome and words of thanks from the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Stephan Beetz, for their commitment to supervising our placement students, the event continued with a ‘practical supervisor bingo’ session to help everyone get to know one another. This quickly fostered an open and pleasant atmosphere.

This was followed by a session providing information about the placement semester for direct-entry students: What tasks do the students undertake? What does the practical placement reflection report cover? How is the placement integrated into the course structure? Questions from the supervisors were also addressed and discussed together. With the help of an interactive survey platform, participants were actively involved throughout the event.

Another item on the programme was a keynote talk by Mr Fladerer from SIMKI e.V. on the topic of ‘Access to support systems in Social Work’. The talk provided interesting food for thought and was followed by an opportunity for discussion. Ms Drewes then presented the SIMKI programme “KIVEER – Understanding and Experiencing Children”, which is a continuing professional development programme aimed at professionals.

All in all, it was a varied meeting with many interesting discussions, new ideas and a fruitful exchange between the university and the professional field.

Many thanks to all the practice supervisors for their time, their commitment and the valuable support they provide to our students!
