The Sony Academic Short Film Experience is a short film competition for students, offering you the chance to win a trip to London to the SONY Virtual Stage at Pinewood Studios.

Working in teams of up to six people, you’ll have 72 hours to produce a short film. The film must be no longer than 100 seconds. You’ll be provided with a SONY FX2 camera kit for the shoot. The challenge: you’ll be competing against seven other teams, and only one can win!

As places are limited, unfortunately not every team can take part. You’ll be notified by email on 22 October as to whether your team has been selected.

On 29 October, all selected teams can look forward to a workshop on the SONY FX2. That very same evening at 7.00 pm, the theme for your film will be announced at ‘MFMW26: What’s Next?’. The production period runs from 30 October to 1 November. The premiere of all films will take place on 17 November as part of the Medienforum Mittweida 2026.
