Peace Ride stops off in Mittweida (European Peace Ride)

Around 200 cyclists taking part in the European Peace Ride (EPR) will be stopping off in Mittweida on Sunday morning, 13 September, from 10 am. All residents are invited to meet the cyclists at Technikumplatz, including cycling legend Jan Ullrich. The STADTRADELN rally to Chemnitz sets off from Mittweida for all cyclists.

In Mittweida, the EPR participants will refuel once more during a refreshment break on the final stage to the finish in Chemnitz. The university town and Mittweida University of Applied Sciences welcome the peace cyclists. The Ottendorf Brass & Swing Orchestra and 99drei Radio Mittweida will provide musical entertainment. The European Peace Ride is not a race, but a joint 500-kilometre ride for peace, European cohesion and international understanding. On 11 September, the EPR sets off from Zittau, then passes through Liberec in Poland to Dresden, and from there, on the third day, heads first to Mittweida.

The Institute for SME Cooperation at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences – MIKOMI – has been supporting the EPR as a partner for several years now, linking this sporting project with dialogue between academia, business and society.

Whilst the EPR participants still have to conquer the ‘Steile Wand’ in Meerane before the grand finale at the Jutta-Müller Ice Sports Centre in Chemnitz, a ‘STADTRADELN’ rally will set off in parallel for recreational cyclists and families, travelling from Mittweida via the Chemnitz Valley Cycle Route to the finish.
