Mittweida University Theatre: "FAME – The Musical"

The Mittweida University Theatre is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its musical. The premiere will take place on 9 December 2026 at the Ludwig-Hilmer-Bau.

Ten years after the first performance of “FAME – The Musical” in Mittweida, the musical is returning to the Mittweida University Theatre. In 2016, the play was first performed in an abridged version, laying the foundations for a long-standing musical tradition at the university theatre. In the anniversary year of 2026, “FAME” will now be staged in its full version.

Following the success of “Artus – Excalibur” in 2025, the university theatre team is once again tackling a well-known stage story. “FAME” tells the story of young talents at the New York High School of Performing Arts who dream of a career on stage. However, the path to fame is marked by competition, personal challenges, friendship, love and ambition. With rousing music, high-energy dance scenes and emotional moments, the musical showcases the highs and lows of everyday life in an arts college.

Preparations for the musical have been underway for several weeks now. The team currently consists of around 100 participants who are working on the production on, behind and alongside the stage. A total of eight performances are scheduled for December.
