Teaching responsibilities include basic and specialised modules, delivered in both German and English, within the new Master’s programme in AI and Data Science, the consecutive Bachelor’s/Master’s programme in Applied Mathematics for Network and Data Sciences, as well as service modules in basic mathematics. The teaching load comprises 18 hours per week and includes marking examinations as well as supervising final theses and work placements. 

Furthermore, as part of the development strategy of the Free State of Saxony and Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, a commitment to the further development of the field of appointment is expected. Flexibility in teaching within innovative study models and extra occupational programmes is equally desirable, as is a willingness to engage in international, national and regional cooperation with institutions in industry and research.

The range of responsibilities also includes active research work involving the acquisition of third-party funding, as well as participation in academic self-governance.

The applicant’s previous teaching and research profile, as well as their professional experience to date, should be closely linked to the field of appointment and reflect current developments in the field of artificial intelligence. Compatibility with existing research topics within the Mathematics Department is desirable.

Comprehensive expertise in the field of appointment and active research activity, evidenced by peer-reviewed academic publications, as well as experience in securing third-party funding, are expected. 

To be considered for the post, applicants must provide evidence of teaching experience at university level. Further training in university teaching methodology, evidenced by certificates, and experience in e-learning and academic self-governance are also desirable.

The successful candidate must meet the appointment requirements set out in Section 59 of the Saxon Higher Education Act of 31 May 2023, as amended with effect from 1 January 2025. A successfully completed degree in mathematics and a PhD with a demonstrable connection to the field of appointment are also required.
