Who is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education?

Expert in education and dialogue

The historian Christoph Meyer has been a member of the Rectorate as Vice-Rector for Education since February 2023. He has many years’ experience as the head of an educational organisation, as chair of a foundation and as an author. Since 2011, he has been Professor of Education and Culture in Social Work at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. He is distinguished by his extensive experience in committee work, leadership and facilitation, and has served as Director of an institute since 2022. As Vice-Rector for Education and Project Manager of ILEAS, Prof. Dr. phil. Christoph Meyer is committed to the quality and success of studies, the promotion of talent and continuing professional development.

University teaching methodology

We support teaching staff with any questions they may have about the design of their teaching, or if they are looking for new ideas, wish to undertake further training or would like to exchange views. We firmly believe that the quality of teaching is a key competitive factor for a higher education institution.

Innovative university teaching

New approaches to teaching and learning are being trialled. For example, in the ILEAS project – Innovative Teaching Architecture System.

Quality Management

The quality management system for study and teaching provides the organisational and academic framework for ensuring the quality of degree programmes and their continuous development.

Student Financial Support and Career Service

The Career Service supports students, PhD candidates and alumni of the university as they make the transition from study to work. We work closely with partners from the business world. The aim of student support is to assist students in preparing as effectively as possible for the start of their careers.

A focus on education issues

The Vice-Rectorate for Education brings together information and stakeholders and provides advice on education policy and internal university guidelines, including within the Education Commission. We support the strategic development and quality assurance of degree programmes and coordinate and oversee central development and accreditation processes.

Academic success

Through a range of initiatives and projects, we are working to improve academic success, with a particular focus on achieving gender parity.

Newly appointed professors at the HSMW

On Tuesday this week, the Vice-Rectorate for Education welcomed the professors at HSMW who were newly appointed last year.

Project D2C2 (2021–2025)

The focus of the project “Implementing Digitalisation in Disciplines in a Participatory Manner :: Competencies Connected” (D2C2) was on further developing digitalisation in higher education teaching on a discipline-specific basis through dialogue with academic colleagues and students.

A very small component, 3D-printed from metal, is cleaned of excess metal powder using a brush.

Knowledge transfer

From theory straight into practice. We put scientific findings to practical use and bring smart ideas directly into businesses and society as marketable solutions. Through established networks, funded projects and direct dialogue, we work together to turn ideas into reality.

Cooperate

Around 1,500 graduates complete their degrees at HSMW each year. As a partner to our region, we create initiatives and opportunities that bring the business community and students together. This benefits both sides: excellent prospects for starting a career meet highly qualified staff.
