In-house Training on Gender Competence

Inhalt

In an increasingly diverse and equitable society, gender competence is no longer a “nice-to-have”—it is a key skill. The continuing education course “Gender. Society. Habit? Reflecting on and Applying Gender Competence” offers you the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of gender issues and to examine social structures from a new, reflective perspective. You will not only learn how gender images and stereotypes (gender bias) arise and operate, but also what role gender plays in everyday life—often unconsciously. Through an intersectional approach, it becomes clear how closely gender is interwoven with other social inequalities. In this way, the continuing education program raises awareness not only of gender justice but also of diversity as a whole.

Another key component is an overview of the historical development of women’s rights and key gender theories. Examining the milestones of the women’s movements in West Germany and East Germany fosters a deeper understanding of how past struggles shape our present—and why the fight for equality remains necessary even today.

This continuing education program is particularly valuable for anyone who wishes to engage with issues of equality, diversity, or social change, whether professionally or personally. It enhances the ability to engage in critical reflection, fosters a nuanced understanding of gender as a social structural category, and provides practical guidance for addressing gender issues in daily life and the workplace.
