Financial support for women in STEM fields
General Information
Mittweida University of Applied Sciences provides financial support to promote women in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The measures are aimed in particular at women in management positions and/or those with a heavy workload due to committee work, and contribute to the implementation of the HSMW's equality concept (2025–2030).
Funding is provided from the HSMW's budget for equality promotion measures as part of the 2030 Female Professors Program.
Applications can be submitted immediately.
Applicants
Only the following persons are eligible to apply:
- Female professors
- Female (early-career) researchers
- Female students
at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences with a connection to STEM subjects. Members of the CB or INW faculties do not need to demonstrate a connection to STEM subjects separately.
Eligible Support Measures
The following are eligible for funding:
- Support from student or research assistants (SHK/WHK).
- Expenses for specialist literature.
- Publication costs for scientific publications.
- Participation in conferences, meetings, or further training (including participation fees, travel, and accommodation).
- Babysitting or childcare to enable participation in committee meetings (prerequisite: submission of an official invoice and an extract from the minutes of the meeting).
The maximum grant amount is €1,500 per academic year. Multiple applications are possible as long as the total amount is not exceeded.
Prerequisites
- Support is exclusively for women in STEM fields.
- The proposed measure must be clearly related to professional, scientific, or study-related activities.
- Retroactive applications are not permitted.
- The information provided in the application must be complete and accurate.
Application Process
- The completed and signed application form must be submitted by email.
- Depending on the measure, the application must be accompanied by relevant supporting documents (e.g., cost estimates, programs, tenders).
- For childcare applications, the invoice and the minutes of the committee meeting must be submitted no later than two weeks after the meeting.

In exceptional cases, processing the application may take up to three weeks. This should be taken into account when planning the measure.
