Call for Applications: Doctoral Scholarships for Young Female Scientists
General Information
Mittweida University of Applied Sciences is offering doctoral scholarships to promote women in science and research as part of the federal and state government's 2030 female professorship program [Professorinnenprogramm 2030 von Bund und Ländern]. The aim is to support young female scientists on their path to a doctorate and to strengthen their representation in science in the long term.
Object of Funding
Funding is available for female graduates who are aiming for a doctorate.
Two scholarships will be awarded as part of this call for applications. One of them is entitled: "Monika Häußler Sczepan Scholarship of the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences".
Scope of Funding
- Monthly funding: €1,700 (incl. travel and book costs).
- Funding period: up to three years.
- Extension: possible on application for a maximum of six months.
Prerequisites
- Women with a university degree according to § 41 SächsHSG are eligible to apply.
- The doctorate must be supervised by a professor at the HSMW.
- Parallel employment of up to 10 hours per week is possible, provided that the doctorate is not impaired.
- Simultaneous funding through another scholarship is excluded.
Reporting Obligations
- Semi-annual short report on doctoral progress.
- Annual short presentation to the Equal Opportunities Committee.
Application
The application includes:
1. Personal details and justification for the application.
2. Academic career (certificates, evidence, publications, teaching activities).
3. Exposé and milestone plan of the doctoral project.
4. Letter of recommendation and statement from the (future) supervising professorship on the research results already available and on the (planned) academic project.
5. Declaration of willingness from a professor at a university institution or a co-opted professor to supervise the academic project.
Selection Procedure
- Evaluation by the HSMW Equal Opportunities Officer.
- Decision by the Rectorate.
- Involvement of the namesake in the awarding of the "Monika Häußler Sczepan Scholarship".
