Gender Equality at the HSMW

Strengthening Equal Opportunities - Shaping the Future

Equal opportunities for all genders is a key concern of the HSMW. The university is expressly committed to equal opportunities regardless of gender with regard to different life situations in studies and career.

In addition to the mission statement, this conviction is reflected in all thematically relevant framework plans and in the university development planning of Mittweida University of Applied Sciences.

In order to further anchor equality, equal opportunities and family friendliness in its goals and processes, the HSMW adopted an equality concept for the first time in 2009, which set out specific targets and measures for equality work. In the following years, the concept was revised and adapted to current developments. The current equality concept of the HSMW will soon be available for download.

The HSMW Equal Opportunities Team

The honorary Equal Opportunities Team of the HSMW is made up of the decentralized Equal Opportunities Officers of the respective faculties, the IWD, the Laser Institute and the central facilities as well as the central Equal Opportunities Officer and all respective deputies.

The Equal Opportunities Officers are employees of the HSMW who are committed to equal opportunities for all members of the university. They support the university management in the implementation of the Gender Equality Act and ensure that no one is disadvantaged on the basis of their gender, gender identity or sexual orientation and provide advice in cases of discrimination. The involvement of students in the equal opportunities team is also guaranteed.

By participating in the Female Professors Program 2030, the equal opportunities team will be supplemented by a full-time project employee until July 2029. The Equal Opportunities and Diversity Department of the Student Council takes on the same topics with a student focus and strengthens the entire team.

Monthly meetings enable a continuous exchange.
